Paired Hearts

Last week I was waiting on some snow to wreak havoc on my work week and sitting alone in my hotel room waiting for it all to begin.

My dear husband was home sick, just trying to keep up with warm drinks and eating was a chore for him. My heart was breaking, feeling like I should be home with him. Making sure he was fed and watered, covered with cozy quilts and generally feeling the best he could. But I couldn’t be home. Work had to be done and customers needed to be seen.

Knowing Valentine’s Day was coming soon I was reminded of hearts and love and just genereally missing the match to my heart, my husband, even more.

I had picked up two skeins of The Fiber Seed Sprout DK in Delta Dawn and plum earlier that morning and was dying to start something new. The warm peachy pink caught my eye on instagram and the soft grey tone nature of the plum reminded me of the dusty purple of conversation hearts text.

I started doodling, hearts being jumping off point, and the dull ache of knowing my love was sick and home alone made me think of a pair of hearts, the reflection of hearts and how it feels when your heart has a match.

Sketch in hand and swatch on the needles, now the fun part begins.

I started with the hat, knowing that would be quick and fun and endlessly useful. Once I realized that there would be plenty of yarn and that I do love a good matching set I decided to reverse the main and contrasting colors for a cowl.

So here we are, with the Paired Hearts set ready to warm you right up, remind you of love and that once you find your hearts match in life nothing is sweeter than to be with them.
